CODES OF CONDUCT

THIS DOCUMENT MUST BE READ BY ALL MANAGERS, COACHES, PARENTS AND PLAYERS:

Code of Conduct for Team Officials

This code applies to all team/club officials (although some may not apply to all)

Obligations towards the game: The team official should;

  • Set a positive example for others, particularly young players and supporters
  • Promote and develop own team having regard to the interest of the players, supporters and reputation of the national game
  • Share knowledge and experience when invited to do so, taking into account the interest of the body that has requested this rather than personal interests
  • Avoid all forms of gamesmanship
  • Show due respect to match officials and others involved in the game
  • Always have regard to the best interest of the game, including where publicly expressing an opinion of the game and any particular aspect of it, including others involved in the game
  • Not use or tolerate inappropriate language

Obligations towards the team: The team official should;

  • Make every effort to develop the sporting, technical and tactical levels of the club/team, and to obtain the best results by the team, using all permitted means
  • Give priority to the interests of the team over individual interests
  • Resist all illegal or unsporting influences, including banded substances and techniques
  • Promote ethical principles
  • Show due respect to the interests of players, coaches and other officials, at their own club/team and others

Obligations towards the supporters: The team official should;

  • Show due respect to the interest of supporters

Respect towards the match officials: The team official should;

  • Accept the decisions of the match official without protest
  • Avoid words or actions which may mislead a match official
  • Show due respect toward match officials

Code of Conduct for Players

Players are the most important people in the sport. Playing for the team, and for the team to win, is the most fundamental part of the game. But not winning at any cost – Fair Play and respect for all others in the game is also fundamentally important. This code focuses on players involved in top-class football. Nevertheless, the key concepts in the code are valid for players at all levels.

Obligations towards the game: A player should;

  • Make every effort to develop their own sporting abilities in terms of skills, technique, tactics and stamina
  • Give maximum effort and strive for the best possible performance during a game, even if his/her team is in a position where the desired result has already been achieved
  • Set a positive example for others, particularly young players and supporters
  • Avoid all forms of gamesmanship, and time-wasting
  • Always have regard to the best interest of the game, including where publicly expressing an opinion on the game and any particular aspect of it, including others involved in the game
  • Not use inappropriate language

SHIN PADS:

It’s important to emphasise the significance of wearing shin pads for player protection during both training sessions and matches within our club. The requirement is in place to prevent injuries and is a fundamental part of the Code of Conduct for Players, to which all players agree when they sign up for the club.

Coaches and Managers have been instructed to enforce the rule of “NO SHINPADS, NO PLAY” without any exceptions. This rule is a vital aspect of maintaining the safety of all players and follows the guidelines set by the Football Association (FA) LAW 4 for safeguarding players. It ensures that everyone participating in club activities takes their safety seriously and minimises the risk of injury while enjoying the sport.

 

Obligations towards one’s own team: A player should;

  • Make every effort consistent with Fair Play and the Laws of the Game to help his/her own team win
  • Resist any influence which might, or might be seen to, bring into question his/her commitment to the team winning
  • In training you respect and listen to your coaches.
  • In training you respect each other and do not get involved with any behaviours that disrupts the session or affects other players. (ie: name calling, enticing others, etc)
  • Use no bad language towards teammates or adults/coaches
  • Try hard in training and have fun/enjoy.

Respect for the Laws of the Game and Competition Rules: A Player should;

  • Know and abide by the laws, rules and spirit of the game, and the competition rules
  • Accept success and failure, victory and defeat, equally
  • Resist any temptation to take banned substances or use banned techniques

Respect towards opponents: A player should

  • Treat opponents with due respect at all times, irrespective of the result of the game
  • Safeguard the physical fitness of opponents, avoid violence and rough play, and help injured opponents

Respect toward the match officials: A player should;

  • Abide by the instructions of their coach and team officials, provided they do not contradict the spirit of this code
  • Show respect towards the team officials and the opposition

Obligations toward the supporters: A player should;

  • Show respect to the interests of supporters

Club Complaints Procedure

In the event that any member feels that he or she has suffered discrimination in any way or that the Club Policies, Rules or Code of Conduct have been broken they should follow the procedures below
They should report the matter to the Club Secretary or another member of the committee

The report should include:

  • Details of what, when and where the occurrence took place
  • Any witness statement(s) and names
  • Names of any others who have been treated in a similar way
  • Details of any former complaints made about the incident, date, when and to whom made
  • A preference for a solution to the incident

The Club’s Management Committee will have the power to;

  • Warn as to future conduct
  • Suspend from membership
  • Remove from membership any person found to have broken the Club’s Policies or Codes of Conduct.

If the complaint is with regard to the Club’s Management the member has the right to report the discrimination direct to the relevant County Football Association. As the governing body of the game, The FA is responsible for setting standards and values to apply throughout the game at every level.

It is essential that the club is fair and consistent.

The following options can be considered;

  • Verbal warning
  • Written warning
  • Exclusion from specified number of matches
  • Exclusion from specified number of training sessions
  • Removal from team for remainder of current season
  • Refusal to register with team for future season

The following options can be considered;

  • Complaints can be submitted in the first instance to the Cub Secretary Marcus Howarth marcus.howarth@mossbankjfc.co.uk Club Welfare Officer Committee of Collette Howarth – collette.howarth@mossbankjfc.co.uk and Robin McLoughlin – robin.mcloughlin@mossbankjfc.co.uk . Alternatively where the issue relates to a technical aspect, the concern can also be submitted to the appropriate age group coach.
  • Complaints can be directed to the club chairman
  • Complaints can be directed to the club committee
  • All complaints must be submitted in writing to the club committee
  • If an individual is unhappy with the outcome of their original complaint they can appeal to the club committee
  • The outcome of an appeal to the club committee is final
  • Individuals have the right to seek guidance from the County FA where they feel they have been unfairly treated by the club’s committee

Code of Conduct for Coaches

  1. Coaches must respect the rights, dignity and worth of each and every person and treat each equally within the context of the sport
  2. Coaches must place the well-being and safety of each player above all other considerations, including the development of performance
  3. Coaches must adhere to all guidelines laid down by the Rules of The Football Association
  4. Coaches must develop an appropriate working relationship with each players based on mutual trust and respect
  5. Coaches must not exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward
  6. Coaches must encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance
  7. Coaches must ensure that the activities they direct or advocate are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of players
  8. Coaches should, at the outset, clarify with the players (and, where appropriate, the parents/carers) exactly what is expected of them and also what they are entitled to expect from their coach
  9. Coaches must co-operate fully with other specialists (e.g. other coaches, officials, sports scientists, doctors, physiotherapists) in the best interests of the player
  10. Coaches must always promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. Fair Play) and never condone violations of the Laws of the Game, behaviour contrary to the spirit of the Laws of the Game or relevant rules and regulations or the use of prohibited substances or techniques
  11. Coaches must consistently display high standards of behaviour and appearance. Coaches must not use or tolerate inappropriate language of behaviour

Codes of Conduct for Spectators, Parents and Carers

We all have a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in the game. All parents are expected to comply with our Codes of Conduct for Spectators, Parents and Carers. This is non-negotiable Moss Bank Junior Football Club and must be adhered to.

Moss Bank Junior Football Club is supporting The FA’s Respect programme to ensure football can be enjoyed in a safe, positive environment.

Remember children’s football is a time for them to develop their technical, physical, tactical and social skills. The 4 corners FA model. Winning isn’t everything.

Play your part and observe The FA’s Respect Code of Conduct for spectators and parents/carers at all times.

I will:

  • Remember that children play for FUN
  • Applaud effort and good play as well as success
  • Always respect the match officials’ decisions
  • Remain outside the field of play and within the Designated Spectators’ Area (where provided)
  • Let the coach do their job and not confuse the players by telling them what to do
  • Encourage the players to respect the opposition, referee and match officials
  • Avoid criticising a player for making a mistake – mistakes are part of learning
  • Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, racist, anti-gay bigotry, homophobia, insulting, or abusive language or behaviour.

I understand that if I do not follow the Code, any/all of the following actions may be taken by my club, County FA, league or

The FA:

I may be:

  • Issued with a verbal warning from a Moss Bank Junior Football Club or league official
  • Required to meet with Moss Bank Junior Football Club, league or County FA Welfare Officer
  • Required to meet with the Moss Bank Junior Football Club committee
  • Obliged to undertake an FA education course
  • Obliged to leave the match venue by Moss Bank Junior Football Club
  • Requested by Moss Bank Junior Football Club not to attend future games
  • Suspended or have my Moss Bank Junior Football Club membership removed
  • Required to leave Moss Bank Junior Football Club along with any dependents.

In addition:

  • The FA/County FA could impose a fine and/or suspension on the club.

PARENTAL/GUARDIAN ATTENDANCE AT ALL TRAINING/MATCHES FROM U13s DOWNWARDS:

Moss Bank Junior Football Club prohibit leaving children unattended at events for children aged 12 years and below. These policies are designed to prioritise the safety and well-being of young participants and are generally regarded as best practices.

  1. Parental or Guardian Presence: Parents or legal guardians are  required to be present at grassroots football training and matches involving children aged 12 and below. They are expected to stay on the premises during training sessions, games, or other activities unless they have arranged with another parent that responsibility.
  2. Emergency Contact Information: Parents or guardians are required to provide accurate emergency contact information, including phone numbers, in case of unexpected situations or emergencies.
  3. Code of Conduct: Parents, guardians, coaches, and players are asked to adhere to a code of conduct that promotes sportsmanship, respect, and a positive atmosphere for children.
  4. Communication: Clear and effective communication between parents, coaches, and club is essential to ensure everyone understands the policies and expectations in place.
  5. Enforcement: Violation of these policies may result in consequences, including the child’s ineligibility to participate in grassroots football events.

It’s important for parents and guardians to familiarise themselves with the specific policies and guidelines at Moss Bank Junior Football Club. Compliance with these policies not only ensures the safety of your child but also contributes to a positive and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Health & Safety policy

  • Have public and civil liability insurance
  • For all age-groups there should always be 2 adults and a minimum of 1 adult to 10 children. More adults required when working with younger children
  • Establish where and how access is gained by emergency services to the pitch
  • Check the surface beforehand for obvious dangers e.g. broken glass, drinks cans etc
  • Ensure goalposts are erected appropriately and always supervised by adults
  • Establish emergency procedures and ensure all coaches are aware of these procedures
  • Have an Incident/Accident Report Form
